Never done a handstand?
Start here.
Everything you need to know before your first workshop. Less scary than you think — but honest about what it takes.
Your first six steps
No experience needed
We start from zero. If you can put your hands on the floor, you're ready. We've welcomed complete beginners and people who haven't exercised in years.
Sign up for the next workshop
One workshop per month, downtown Toronto. Check the booking page and grab a spot on Luma. Spots go fast.
Wear comfortable clothes
Athletic wear you can move in. Bare feet or grip socks. Bring water.
Arrive 10 minutes early
First-timers get a brief intro before we start. We'll cover what to expect and answer any questions.
Embrace the wobble
You will fall. Everyone does — that's how you learn. We celebrate attempts as much as holds.
The real work is between classes
One workshop a month doesn't teach you to handstand — your training the other 29 days does. We'll show you how, and connect you with people to train with.
let's set the record straight
Myths vs. reality
You need to be strong
Helpful, but not the gate. Technique and consistency matter more.
You need to be flexible
Handstands are mostly about alignment, not flexibility. Tight hamstrings? No problem.
One workshop and you'll be handstanding
A clean handstand takes time — closer to learning to walk than learning a trick. One workshop gets you started and shows you how to train.
I'll be too exhausted to keep up
Medium intensity, not relentless. The practice block is patient, precise work. The HIIT finisher scales — you set the effort, not the clock.
It's only for gymnasts
Most students have zero gymnastics background. It's a skill — skills can be learned.
Common questions
Do I need any experience?
No. First-timers and people who haven't moved in a while are exactly who this is for. You won't be the only one.
How fit do I need to be?
Fit enough to move for 90 minutes. If you can walk up a few flights of stairs, you'll manage — and you'll be better for coming.
Will I be able to handstand after one class?
Honestly? Not fully — a clean handstand takes time, closer to learning to walk than learning a trick. But you'll leave knowing exactly how to train, and with people to train with.
What should I wear?
Comfortable athletic wear. Bare feet or grip socks. No shoes.
How do I find out the location?
Location rotates — we use different downtown Toronto spots. Exact address is in the Luma confirmation a few days before.
What if it's full?
Join the waitlist on Luma — you'll be notified automatically if a spot opens.
Can I bring someone?
Yes — just have them sign up separately on Luma.
